Plant Growth Regulators

What Are They?

What Do They Do?

Plant growth regulators can be defined as organic compounds, other than nutrients, that in small concentrations, affect physiological processes within plants.

Soil ANAND VISHAL and Foliar  ANAND VISHAL are plant growth regulators containing cytokinin, formulated using naturally occurring organic compounds. When applied to the soil or foliage, they affect plant metabolic processes in a beneficial way so as to enthance yield, improve quality  and stimulate earlier maturity.

Cytokinins are potent growth factors necessary for cell growth and differentiation.

They exhibit the following characteristics and effects:

bullet Promote seed germination
bullet Promote root development
bullet Stimulate cell division
bullet Inhibit the breakdown of proteins and nucleic acids, thereby delaying senescence
bullet Promote flowering
bullet Direct the flow of nutrients through the plant toward points of high cytokinin concentration
bullet Occur in nature in very small concentration (a few parts per billion of plant tissue )
bullet Work in conjunction with other plant growth factors such as auxins and gibberellins
bullet Are present in both vegetative and reproductive tissue
bullet Stimulate photosynthesis
bullet Promote fruits set and development
bullet Influence the timing and extent of plant developmental processes
bullet Increase the rate of amino acid incorporation into proteins
bullet Increase resistance to infection by viruses and other pathogens
bullet Enhance plant resistance to stress produced by environmental factors such as temperature, water, etc.
bullet Act at the level of the DNA to regulate RNA and protein synthesis by activating previously inactive genes

Many forecasters regard PGRs as the most rapidly expanding segment of the agrichemical business. Some predict that the use of PGRs may eventually surpass the use of herbicides.
