THE WORKS --- INFRASTRUCTURE FOR ACHIEVEMENT

Today, the BEC Group has five major units located in Bhilai and Raipur with an aggregate capacity of 25,000 tpa for fabrication and assembly, besides iron and steel castings. These units have large infrastructural strengths.

BEC WORKS

This complex, Sprawled over an area of 36 acres, with a total covered area 130,000 sq m, has extensive facilities :

Steel Foundry

	Capacity 10,000 tons per year
	Arc Furnace 8T capacity
	Induction Furnace 2.5T capacity, 2 crucibles
	Maximum weight of casting 12T single piece
	The full range of Carbon, Alloy (high manganese, high chrome) and "Stainless Steel castings are manufactured

Grey Iron Foundry:

Sparks in Steel Foundry Installed capacity 20,000 T per year Maximum weight of casting 35T single piece

Both foundries have met the standards set by international agencies like American Bureau of Shipping and Bureau Veritas. The Steel Foundry has also been approved by Lloyds and RDSO.

Engineering Shops:

Consisting of fabrication, assembly and machine shops, the Engineering Shops of the Bhilai Works have a capacity of 12000T per year. Handling facilities include EOT cranes upto 50T capacity. Plate Bending Machines can bend plates of 63 mm thickness and 2.5m width and upto 100 mm thickness for smaller widths

These units located at Bhilai have fabrication and assembly capacity of 3000 T per year and have facilities for machining 3000 T of castings per year.

The 25 acre Raipur works with a capacity to handle 7200 tonnes of complex steel fabrication per year.	A Crop Wagon
